On October 12th, 2011 the tenth meeting of the Russia-EU IP Dialogue took place in the Federal Service for Intellectual Property (Rospatent). Representatives of the European Commission DG Trade, Delegation of the European Union to Russia, Rospatent, Ministry of Interior of the Russian Federation, Ministry of Economic Development of the Russian Federation, Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation, other federal executive authorities and business community took part in the meeting.
Both sides discussed the issues of amendments to Part IV of the Civil Code of the Russian Federation, issues of IP regulation in the view of creation of the Customs Union and Common Economic Space between Russia, Byelorussia and Kazakhstan and the adoption of Rospatent’s administrative regulations prepared within the administrative reform.
Within the discussion of the enforcement activities both sides exchanged the statistical information and information on measures taken in counteraction to piracy and production of infringing goods, as well as on prevention of infringements in the Internet.
Both sides noted the high efficiency of the seminars being held within the TAIEX program and agreed on continuation of such cooperation.
The Russian side informed on the progress of the implementation of the Russia-EU initiative “Partnership for Modernization”, which has been launched at the 25th Russia-EU Summit in Rostov-on-Don on May 31 – June 1, 2010, in particular, on the cooperation of Rospatent with the European Patent Office (EPO) and the Office for Harmonization in the Internal Market (OHIM).
