On June 4th, 2010 the ninth meeting of the Russia-EU IP Dialogue took place in the Delegation of the European Union to Russia. Representatives of the European Commission DG Trade, Delegation of the European Union to Russia, Rospatent, Ministry of Interior, Ministry of Health and Social Development, Ministry of Agriculture, Ministry of Economic Development of the Russian Federation and other federal executive authorities took part in the meeting.
Both sides discussed the issues of amendments to the Part IV of the Civil Code of Russian Federation, entry into force of the Law on the Turnover of Medicines, development of new customs legislation in view of creation of the Customs Union between Russia, Byelorussia and Kazakhstan and the adoption of Rospatent’s administrative regulations prepared within the administrative reform.
Within the discussion of the enforcement activities the Russian side informed on measures taken in counteraction to production of infringing goods, in particular, on the action “Counterfeit”, and on the custom authorities’ activities. The issue on prevention of infringements in the Internet was also discussed. The meeting resulted in an agreement to hold a number of special seminars for experts from both sides.
The Russian side expressed its concern on the issue of registration of designation “Authentic Russian Vodka” on the territory of EU member-states as a trademark.
